Snake in a dream according to Ibn Sirin

From the dream-interpretation books attributed to Imam Ibn Sirin:

A snake in a dream points to an enemy, and the greater the snake and the stronger its venom, the greater that enmity.
Whoever kills a snake in a dream will triumph over their enemy and get the better of them.
A snake coming out of the house may indicate hostility from members of the household or from neighbours.
Whoever owns a snake or finds it obedient to them may gain wealth or strength from a source they used to fear.

Snake in a dream according to Al-Nabulsi

A snake may indicate an enemy who hides their hostility and shows something else on the surface.
A small snake may symbolise a weak enemy, or a minor worry that will pass.

Snake in a dream depending on the dreamer

For a single woman

It may point to someone approaching her insincerely, so she would do well to be careful about whom she trusts.

For a married woman

It may point to disagreements, or to someone trying to stir trouble between her and her husband; killing the snake means being saved from that.

For a pregnant woman

It often reflects her fears about giving birth, and fades as the anxiety fades.

For a man

It may indicate a rival or enemy at work, and overcoming the snake means overcoming that rival.

Snake dreams: common details and their meanings

Snake bite: Harm that may reach the dreamer from an enemy, in proportion to the pain felt in the dream.
Black snake: Interpreted as a stronger and more dangerous enemy than others.
Killing a snake: Victory and relief from a worry or an enemy.
Running away from a snake: Escape from something the dreamer fears, or from a person who is hurting them.

Snake in modern psychology

In psychology, the snake is often linked to fear of a hidden threat. Because snakes shed their skin, it can also symbolise transformation and renewal. Its appearance may reflect unease about a person or situation you do not trust.
